Stuart Semple + Moncler + Art Basel Miami = TOY

British Artist Stuart Semple interprets the Duck, lifelong mascot of Italian fashion brand Moncler.
The Moncler duck has become a larger than life fibreglass artwork measuring 160 cm in height. This high impact three dimensional structure has then been passed over to British artist Stuart Semple for interpretation.
An ironic and irreverent exponent of Post Pop Art, Semple was given complete creative freedom to embellish the surface of the “Moncler Toy” in his own inimitable style: it features a snapshot of a mountain landscape, reproduced in black and white pixels and hand drawn by the artist, with splashes of colour that recall the Action Painting.
It is a playful, unique and original work, which reflects the Moncler style which has spanned customs, habits and cultures with its quilted jackets, capable of changing form whilst remaining loyal to their roots, for over half a century.
The The Duck Toy will be presented by Franca Sozzani, editor in chief of L’Uomo Vogue, during the art marathon in Miami next week.
Stuart Semple for Moncler is a pop operation with an ultra-contemporary twist, which will then be touring the Mocler flagship stores in Aspen, St Moritz and Milan, where it will be auctioned in February 2009.
The proceeds form the sale will be entirely donated to the Child Priority Foundation.
