StuartSemple
Stuart Semple (b. 1980) is a true artistic polymath and creative innovator. For almost two decades he has been a trailblazer for his generation.

His work stems from an unrelenting curiosity that leads him to experiment with diverse media, methods and techniques across painting, public art, internet art, happenings, technology, chemistry and sculpture. He employs these methods to produce critically astute and sociologically engaged works that deal with the here and now, through a deep connection to cultural history.

Despite being renowned globally for his challenging solo exhibitions in New York, Milan, Los Angeles, Hong Kong and London, Semple remains a hermetic cult figure working from a secluded studio on the south coast of England.

STATE magazine

Lee Sharrock from State visited Stuart in the studio to chat happiness, raves, the 90s and anti-social media.

“With all the alienation and unrest in the world, how could contemporary art possibly be a tool for unification? part of the answer might just come in the form of Stuart Semple, who’s democratic, immersive art is designed to bring people together again”

Flaunt magazine caught up with Stuart Semple to talk about painting, politics and life in a digital world.

“I’d hate to think that what I made changed people’s minds; that’s really not my responsibility.”

“If you were going to waste your life doing anything, painting pictures would be as bad an idea as anything else.”
