SKATEBOARTS

Skateboarts Vlog Nr. 3

skateboarts

an exhibition about art on skateboards to build a skatepark for a better tomorrow

Curated by Robert Hak and Jürgen Knubben

Forum Kunst can look back on a 46 year old history full of international resonance in the art world. Renowned artists such as Lynda Benglis, Jonathan Borofsky, Allan Hacklin, Howard Kanowitz, On Kawara, Martin Kippenberger, Günther Uecker, Erwin Wurm, Timm Ulrichs, Dieter Krieg, Magdalena Jetelová, Richard Jackson and many others had exhibited here.

“skateboarts” is an art project which should bring international urban-art-artists together.

The exhibition has set itself the task to illustrate the skateboarding subculture and its coherence with contemporary art. Hip-Hop, Punkrock and Do-it-Yourself cultures are bundled in the skateboard scene. For active skateboarders, all their doings are rather a sort of philosophy, although it will soon be an Olympic sports discipline.

This art project targets primarily young people which are normally rather distancing themselves if they are confronted with a classical art association. In parallel with the Forum Kunst Rottweil exhibition, which will show all designed skateboards, there will take place a skateboarding opening event in central downtown Rottweil. Some of the participating artists will create a course (skate accessible sculptures / obstacles) and set it to the scene actively. At the same time, the construction of a new skatepark will be supported on-site. City of Rottweil is the project partner.

Opening of the exhibition will take place on July 09, 2016. It will last until August 28, 2016. A corresponding catalogue will be published, containing a presentation of all exhibits. For this reason, all exhibits must reach Forum Kunst Rottweil no later than middle of May 2016.
